Augustine is the only study in the series so far that I do have some experience reading. I have actually spent time reading his works. Part of it was because I had to read and study it in one of my classes for college. But I also kept copies of those works I studied because I saw the value in such a man of God’s words. So I was excited to see this study and to learn more about Augustine through the skilled teaching of Stephen D. Eyre. I felt that he led the reader through a well-done look at the Augustinian writings and theology. It is refreshing to see commentary that is not biased or overly opinionated, based on the writings of such a well versed man whose desire was to confess Christ and serve Him. Eyre leads the reader from exploring the words of Augustine and in to the message he has for each of us and then beyond that to applying it in your own life. I appreciate all of the questions and the different responses included at the end of the book. They gave insight and clarification but let the reader look for answers on their own. It is a great study for those looking to learn more about classic writers, theologians, and figures in history as well as the message they had for readers.
