JT Brown
JB: We formed from just knowing each other from different friends and decided it was a cool idea to be in a band that had a little more message to it than just the cliche subjects (ie: girls, partying, everything is happy-go-lucky), oh yeah and we like music too. CS: What is the main focus in your ministry? Teens? The lost? The hurting? Why did you decide up on this as a focus? JB: Our main focus is to create a smart society. We can ill afford as christians or as people for that matter to be uninformed about things in our belief system. How can anyone know christ or be a person of God if they nothing about him or his ideals? CS: What does your groups name mean? Where did you come up with it? JB: Unified Front means that you need to be on the frontlines of what you believe in. Confidence wins over people more than anything, and if you have that in your ideology, others will be more inclined to listen to what you have to say. CS: Where do you see the band in five years? Ten? The future? JB: In five years we'll be writing songs and in ten years we'll be writing more songs. I see the future as a song writing journey. CS: Do you ever worry about getting caught up in the world of show biz? That success will change your group? JB: Never... next question. CS: What kind of relationship do you maintain with your audiences? Do you fellowship with them? Or do you remain distant as the performer? JB: I think you need a sort of equilibrium of closeness and distance when it comes to the relationship of your fans. You want to be real and down to earth with them because fans can see right through you, but on the other hand if you had a crappy day, you are obligated to put on a smile and get through a conversation with them so that way your bad attitude doesn't reflect poorly on yourself and the fan. CS: Do you make it a goal to use your music to minister to people? Or do you just write for the sake of writing and performing? JB: We make it a goal to use our music as a form of self expression. We hope it benefits other's mentally and spiritually, but i will write music to release what i can't through other means of expression regardless of who it ministers to. CS: What is the message you are trying to get across with your music? JB: To relax and not worry about stupid stuff. Faith is very important to us, and it is the foundation we live our life upon. Many others might not agree on such words and ideas such as faith, but for us it is something we cannot abandon. CS: Do you write your own music? Where do you get ideas for your music? JB: Yes all of our songs are original material. I get ideas from just walking around and making up ditties in my head and occasionally i will use my body as a drum set and get a beat going... i look really stupid doing it... you should see me sometime. CS: Who, or what, are your biggest musical influences? JB: We like everything from rock to jazz to hardcore to contemporary... pretty much everything except country. But as far as bands go i would say Smashing Pumpkins, Incubus, Muse, Radiohead, Led Zepplin, Norah Jones, Our Lady Peace, Radial Angel, Man Alive... i could go on forever. CS: Are you involved in your own home churches? What role do you have there? JB: We all go to different churches... i dont'r know of any roles we play except that we just go to have a good time worshiping God. CS: Are you involved in any other ministries? JB: Not that I'm aware of... i do volunteer work every once in a while for underprivaleged people in downtown Kansas City but nothing as a group. CS: What is your musical background? Did you take lessons to gain the musical skills you have now? JB: We all have different backgrounds musically but generally speaking all of our families have been known to be musical people. CS: How much time do you spend practicing as a group? How much time do you practice individually? JB: Twice a week for about 3 to 4 hours at a time. CS: Does the group come together for prayer at times other than concerts and ministry opportunities? JB: Oh yeah... if you aren't faithful in your prayers, you lose touch with the spirit. CS: Have you always had a desire to be in a group like this? JB: HA! How does one define a "group like this?" Uh... yeah i guess when it's all said and done, i like where we're at. CS: What is the latest news on your group? Any new CD's to be released soon? JB: We just released a new Album... it is self titled and you can check it out at http:// www.purevolume.com/unifiedfront CS: Any plans to sign with a major Label in the near future? JB: No, but i would sure like too. CS: Do you have any advice to give to the youth of our world? JB: Just be real... don't be ashamed of anything you do. There is a plan for everyone and no one is deemed useless. We are all significant in our roles in society. Oh yeah and eat lots of pudding! |
