CS: What is the main focus in your ministry? Teens? The lost? The hurting? Why did you decide upon this as a focus?

JL: My number one priority is my personal relationship with God. Staying in His will. How else can I hope to effectively minister without God's anointing in my life. He has placed within my heart a burden for young people. Today's youth face so many obstacles and have so many choices to make, yet receive so little help or council from the family unit. It's going to be the Church of the living God that will make a difference in the lives and futures of our youth.

CS: Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten years? The future?

JL: Raptured!!! However, if the Lord tarries a little bit longer I would love to be Evangelizing full time. Forsaking all, for the sake of His calling.

CS: Do you ever worry about getting caught up in the world of show biz? That success will change you?

JL: At times I catch myself thinking about my music from a fleshly point of view, what I have to gain; money, fame, but bless God the spirit he has placed within me say; all gain belongs to Him and all glory is due Him. I trust God and I feel that if I keep Him first in my life and seek His will with all sincerity I know that He will keep me from all that would hinder His work in my life. Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

CS: What kind of a relationship do you maintain with your audiences? Do you fellowship with them? Or do you remain distant as the performer?

JL: First of all, I don't consider myself a performer, nor an entertainer for that matter, I am a Minister in the service of my God. My sole reason for being in the position I'm in is to minister to the needs of His people which means I must avail myself to each and everyone whom he puts in my path, no matter
the circumstance, even if it means having to stop in the middle of a song to pray with someone.

CS: Do you write your own music? Where do you get ideas for your music?

JL: Yes, I do write my own material with inspiration from the Lord. I receive a lot of inspiration from reading His word and hearing sermons. Mostly He likes to wake me up at the wee hours of the morning and talk to me. I suppose it's the time of day in which my head and heart are most receptive to His Spirit.

CS: How would you describe your music style?

JL: It's been called Contemporary/Inspirational/Christian. I believe the best way I would describe it is that it's music that reflects the heartbeat of God.

CS: Who, or what, are your biggest musical influences?

JL: I hope and I pray that when I say that Jesus Christ has had the greatest influence on my music, that that statement would be the Truth. Even though I have been influenced by many artist ranging from Billy Joel and Prince to Steven Curtis Chapman and Rich Mullins to some degree, my desire is that all influence and inspiration in my music would come from the Lord.

CS: What is your musical background? Did you take lessons to gain the musical skills you have now?

JL: Although I am self-taught on guitar, bass and the drums, I have taken piano lessons three times in my life but since I lacked dedication I quit. Most of my musical experience before the Church was singing in rock-n-roll bands. Even though I play several instruments I have never considered myself A musician. I have learned more instrumentally while playing in Church. God, in His word said that he will magnify my talents and I believe that because I have made myself available to Him, He has blessed me and given me the abilities that I have today.

CS: Do you find it strange to hear yourself singing on the radio?

JL: At first it seemed a little surreal; however, after you've listened to yourself
a couple thousand times during the recording process, it's no big deal. I rarely listen to myself anymore.

CS: Any plans to sign with a major label in the near future?

JL: If the right opportunity came along I probably would, but not until I've prayed, fasted and sought the Lords guidance. I wouldn't take a step without
Him.

CS: Do you have any advice to give to the youth of our world?

JL: Serve the Lord in your youth! Commit your all to Him now before you make mistakes that you will regret later on and He will surely bless you in all that you do. Not to say that God won't bless you because of your mistakes but rather, keep you from them. The only regret I have is that I waited so long to commit my life to Him and His service. Oh the blessings I've missed and the mistakes I've made. My personal testimony tells of a God who can take the broken, the wounded, and the mistakes and make something out of what seems to be nothing.
