By Kelvin Oliver
CS: How long have you been a Christian?
KL:I have gone to church my whole life. Really ever since I can remember.
CS: When and how did you accept Christ into your heart?
KL: I was 8 years old when I realized I needed to repent of my sins. I did so, then was baptized in Jesus name, and received the gift of the Holy Spirit.
CS: What is the main focus in your ministry? Teens? The lost? The hurting? Why did you decide up on this as a focus?
KL: All of the above...teens because I am a teen and can relate to their problems and triumphs. The lost because I feel God leading me in that direction. The hurting because I have hurt, and hurting people need a helping hand and encouraging words. I want to be that person that helps all of these.
CS: Do you ever worry about getting caught up in the world of show biz? That success will change you?
KL: No. I don't really want to have a million people following me around, or discussing what I wear, how I fix my hair, or where I get my nails done. I want to be real, if God wants me to minister to millions of people I will. Thats up to God.
CS: What kind of relationship do you maintain with your audiences? Do you fellowship with them? Or do you remain distant as the performer?
KL: I try to talk to them, pray with them, and encourage them in whatever way that I can.
CS: Do you ever feel that you are not ready Spiritually to be ministering as you are doing now?
KL:Yes! But, we are all human, we all sin. We just have to keep going forward and trust God. God gave me a gift, and I must use it for his glory.
CS: What is your favorite verse in the Bible and why?
KL: Isaiah 41:10. I love this verse, because it lets me know that God is always there for me. When I am afraid, or unsure of the way, I can look to him and he will guide me. God will always be there for me with his hand holding mine, and sometimes he even holds me in his arms. It is such an assurance to know that.
My favorite book is ACTS. It is so neat to read about the early
church and all the miracles, wonders, and power that God gave them! And just think...we still have that power today!
CS: When did you feel called to do what you are doing in media? Have you felt God's hand guiding you towards this all along?
KL: I was called into a music ministry when I was 15. God has been guiding me since then. I have seen doors open that only he could open. It is so exciting to see what else God has in store for my life!
CS: Do you have any projects coming out in the near future?
KL: My cd entitled Glimpse is being released this month (August). You can listen to clips and order one at my website. www.kristynleigh.com
