CS: What does your groups name mean? Where did you come up with it?

Jason: Glisten means to shine or reflect light, and we feel that it's a symbol of the light of Christ we project in our music and through our lives. I worked at a Decal Store and made a sticker that said "glisten". I told the guys I thought it would be a cool band name, and we've used it ever since...

CS: How did your group form?

Jason: I met Adam, our drummer, and Pat, our first bass player, in a homeschool support group. We originally started because we all liked music and were just bored, but the Lord showed us that music without the hope of Christ is just empty. So we focused our attention on writing songs that communicated that, and started playing concerts with another local band called State of Grace.

CS: How long have you all been together?

Jason: We played our first concert in 1995 I think...Around 5 years or so. But, we've changed members a few times. Adam and I are the only original members.

CS: What kind of relationship do you all have with one another?

Jason: We've spent so much time together on the road that we really feel like family. I think it's the scariest thought for us to break up someday and separate those close ties...The band has always made allowances for us as individuals too. If one of us is low on cash or going through a tough time, I know we can always turn to each other for support and prayer.

CS: What is the main focus in your ministry?

Jason: Spreading the message of the cross to the unsaved and un-churched. Bringing words of encouragement to those who know God, and following the Lord's will with all of our might.

CS: Where do you see the band in five years? Ten? The future?

Jason: Five years in the life of a Christian band is a LOT of time. Ten is almost unthinkable. The problem isn't that the bands give up, it's that the industry and the audiences give out first. Christian music fans seem to always clutch at the coattails of mainstream music, and every fad stamps out great Christian music that doesn't fit a mainstream mold.

The real problem is that Christian rock is a sub-genre of a sub-genre. There simply aren't enough people interested in Christian music that doesn't sound like The Backstreet Boys, or Matchbox 20, or 4Him. (ugg)

To answer the question :^) we would love to continue making music and sharing our relationship with the Lord until that fateful horn blows. I only hope that God will allow us to do it, and a few people will listen.

CS: When did you feel called to perform in a group like this? Have you felt God's hand guiding you towards this all along?

Jason: I went through the typical time of rebellion during my teens, but the Lord really changed my heart when I was 18. He used a car accident to "wake me up". I started searching for ways to communicate my love for the Lord shortly after that.

I never, ever thought I would be the lead singer in a Christian rock band. Sometimes I still don't believe it.

CS: Do you write your own music?

Jason: Always.

CS: Where do you get ideas for your music?

Jason: Many times from sermons or teachings that I've heard. Also, from situations I go through in every day life

CS: How would you describe your music style?

Jason: Alternative Modern Rock. But, pick up the CD and decide for yourself.

CS: Who, or what, are your biggest musical influences?

Jason: The Prayer Chain, Starflyer 59, Poor Old Lu, Delirious, U2, Radiohead, Kent...

CS: If you could meet any one person, past, present or future, who would you meet?

Jason: The obvious answer is Jesus, so I won't go for that one. I would like to meet Job. I can't understand how a person could remain true after such horrible things happened. Even when his friends told him to curse God, he wouldn't do it. That is faith that moves mountains. It'd be cool to see what made him tick.

CS: If you could ask Jesus any one question, what would you ask?

Jason: When do I get to meet You face to face?

CS: Who, aside from Jesus, is or has been the biggest influence in your life?

Jason: My wife Glory. She is the reason I even heard of Christian music.

CS: Who do you look up to the most in life?

Jason: Not any one person. There are many people in my life that I admire and respect.

CS: Do you have an accountability partner or prayer partner to keep you encouraged and uplifted?

Jason: We have accountability within the band and with other pastors.

CS: Have you always had a desire to be in a group like this?

Jason: No.

CS: What is the latest news on your group? Any new CD's to be released soon?

Jason: We are writing new material, and hope to start the recording process this fall. We might release the album exclusively over the Internet so stay tuned.

CS: Any plans to sign with a major Label in the near future?

Jason: Not really. If any are interested, we'll talk to them, but record labels haven't done much for us in the past besides create tension and headaches.

CS: Do you have any advice to give to the youth of our world?

Jason: Matthew 22:36-40. Keep Christ First
