Fros'T

1340mag: Where the heck has Fros'T been doing since his Rescue Records days?

Fros'T: Well that seems to be the question everybody is asking, I pretty much have just been doing my thing, in the last 4 years I started publishing a gospel hip-hop magazine called Underground Fire, and that took alot of my time getting that off the ground, I also have gotten married, which is going on 3 years already, and we have a 1 1/2 year old daughter, besides all that I've still been performing shows, and been in the lab just waiting for the Lord to give me the ok when it was time for me to drop another record. And that's where we are today!

1340mag: How did you come to leave Rescue Records and come to be on 4th Man Records?

Fros'T: Well me and Rescue Records pretty much just went are own ways, I got nothing but love for Noah Bernardo and Rescue Records, I credit Rescue Records for giving me my first shot to shine in the spot light, you live and learn, rescue was only meant to be for a season, I knew I had to leave that God had bigger and better things for Fros'T, so I left and started my own label partnering with my long time best friend/manager Earl Johnson starting 4th Man Records.

1340mag: How is N'Soul Records involved with the new album, "Life Long Journey"?

Fros'T: Being that 4th Man Records was very small with not a lot of income just a lot of will and hard work, we figured instead of just spending all kinds of money on putting out records with no solid distribution to sell these records that we would go get a label deal for one record on another label to build up the name 4th Man Records and to put away some income, so that after the Fros'T album we can then use that as a tool to get our own distribution deal direct, and being that I am very good friend with N.Soul president Phillip Kim he was kind enough to do that for us to get 4th Man on the map.

1340mag: Do you feel that "Life Long Journey" is more mature than your Rescue Records release? If so, how?

Fros'T: I feel that the "Life Long Journey" album is an entire 360 degree turn from the "Mad at tha World" album, musically, lyerically, this album just has so much to offer, whether your a hip-hop head, rap fan, are you just like good clean music, this album has something for everybody, it's not west coast, (like the Mad at tha World lp) it's not east coast, it's not southern, this album is universal, it's for everybody.

1340mag: How did you hook up with the young lady that does the interlude "Journey" on the record? That is an amazing piece of work, totally intense.

Fros'T: Praise God for her, her name is TY, she goes to my partner Professor L Chay's church, he brought her down to the studio, my boy Kiz hooked up the track, and then she wrote it and recorded wth in a two hour period, God's annointed was thick up in that studio, we had a blast, I hope that peace of art touches many lives around the country.

1340mag: When you look at mainstream rap in the year 2000, what do you see?

Fros'T: I try not to focus too much on what mainstram rap is doing, because as Christians we are called to be seperate, but I do feel that the devil uses music to control the mind, and that more and more heads are opening up there eyes to the light, "The bible says that in the last days God will pour out His spirit on all flesh" that even included pouring out His Spirit through music, that's why there's more and more dope Christian emcees rising up. 10 years ago gospel hip-hop could not compete with the mainstream, now we're like doing shows with secular artist and getting nothing but respect.

1340mag: What's the last good book you read?

Fros'T: "From Barreness to Fruitfulness" written by Dammazio, I truly recommend this book to all those in street ministry, those that are continually questioning God when their financial breakthrough is gonna take place. This book really touched my life.

1340mag: Where will Fros'T be in 10 years?

Fros'T: I'm sure if we all knew where we would be in 10 years, we can limit a lot a mistakes we make in life, to answer the question I really don't know, the only thing I do know, is that there is no retirement or 41k in ministry so I can tell you that I will still preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

1340mag: What do you do when you are not rapping?

Fros'T: Be the best husband I can to my wife, and the best father I can to my daughter, and I also head up the youth ministry at my church Praise chapel, so I guess you can say I stay pretty busy in doing what I can do to expand the kingdom. Big Laker fan, big Dodger fan, big Raider fan, if you ever come to L.A., got to one of the games. You might catch me there.

1340mag: Will you be touring at all? If so, when?

Fros'T: Definitely, we are planning a huge life long journey tour this summer, so be on the look out for that, for more info on the tour or dates you can call (562)254-5498 or email jayson6@prodigy.net

1340mag: Parting thoughts?

Fros'T: I like to give big shouts to my crew the Doggmatics, my partner Earl Johnson, Phillip Kim, Go For It Youth Ministries, Praise Chapel, all radio that's bumpin this junk, 1340 mag for the support, keep it real, keep it Jesus!
