CS: How did your group form? Did you start out together or did you pick up players along the way?
Fear of God: We started out as a worship team at a camp called Braeside, it was actually this other guy's band - he was the lead guy, he played piano and sang lead, when he left for Bible College, the four of us stuck and got another keyboardist and Kristin and Laura took over lead vocals.
CS: How has this affected the group? Did it take awhile to bond? What kind of relationship do you all have now?
Fear of God: Well.... Laura, Jamie and Allen grew up going to the same youth group so they were pretty close already, Kristin was the "outsider" so to speak, but now, we're like family - very close!
CS: What is the main focus in your ministry? Teens? The lost? The hurting?
Fear of God: Well, our focus is evangelism. The band is just a tool that God allows us to use to reach teens! Our heart is definitely youth and young adults - but adults have gotten saved at concerts too!
CS: Where do you see the band in five years? Ten? The future?
Fear of God: Well, our heart is to stay relevant to youth and young adults - whether that means the style of music we play continually evolves or what - we can't wait til this becomes our full time thing, and can minister night after night!
CS: How has the group changed since you started out?
Fear of God: Well. like I said, we started out just leading worship, since then we've evolved into what we are today. Our heart is still worship, some of our original music is worship - but with more of an edge.
CS: When and how did you accept Christ into your heart?
Fear of God: Me, (Kristin) accepted Christ into my heart when I was 5 years old after watching 'Heavens gates and Hell's flames' - He became even more real to me as I became a young teenager and had to start making decisions on my own.
CS: What is your favorite verse in the Bible and why? Same question, but for book. If there is no answer to this question please skip. :-)
Fear of God: Again, this is Kristin - My fav verse is John 10:10 - paraphrased it says - the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I've (Jesus) have come that you might have life to the full! - I mean if Jesus can't offer me something better than the world has to offer, then why bother - Christianity certainly isn't convenient (going against the flow) but...the great thing is that He can and does, and that's why I do what I do, to show teens that Jesus is real and cares and has a life for them that is better than they ever could have imagined. My fav book is the Psalms, Now David had a heart of worship and a heart after God!
CS: What is the funniest thing you have seen while touring?
Fear of God: Well...something we look back at now and laugh about is when we were coming back from the East Coast. We were all so tired, we been driving for about 10 or 15 hours, and we got pulled over for speeding, the cop who hardly spoke English (cause we were in Quebec) let us off, we couldn't believe it. Then 2 hours later with someone else driving we got pulled over again.... for speeding, but once again, he let us off!! So we figured if we got pulled over again, there was no way we'd get off again, so we slowed down!
CS: What is the biggest thing God has done during one of your concerts?
Fear of God: On a few occasions, God has really poured out His Spirit, and at the end of the show over 30 teens have given their hearts to the Lord.
CS: Where do you get ideas for your music?
Fear of God: Well... we're all influenced musically by different artists and bands - but our lyrics come from life experiences.
CS: Who, aside from Jesus, is or has been the biggest influence in your life?
Fear of God: I had to say youth pastors and youth leaders that plugged us into music and ministry at a young age - and allowed us to develop musically and spiritually under them.
CS: When do you find time for personal worship?
Fear of God: In our personal devotions.... for me (Kristin) I spend a lot of time in the car driving, I'll put a worship CD on and sing along or pray, just enjoy the scenery and hang with God.
CS: Do you have an accountability partner or prayer partner to keep you encouraged and uplifted?
Fear of God: Prayer is a vital aspect to our ministry, we hold each other accountable in our lifestyles and in prayer. Sometimes we spend more time praying at practice than we actually do practicing.
CS: Does the group come together for prayer at times other than concerts and ministry opportunities?
Fear of God: Yes, we don't actually have set appointments with each other specifically for prayer, but I think that comes out of a lifestyle thing. When we're not playing or practicing but just hanging, if there is a need or something going on that needs prayer, we pray!
CS: Have you always had a desire to sing in a group like this?
Fear of God: Me (Kristin), I felt called to youth ministry as a teenager, I knew that music would be in there somewhere, but I had no idea. God is using the band as a tool, or avenue that we use to make a difference is teenagers lives.
CS: Do you have any advice to give to the youth of our world?
Fear of God: It doesn't matter where you came from or what you've done - God doesn't really care, He loves you anyway! He's got a life for you that is beyond your wildest dreams - a life to the full, more abundant and fulfilling than you can imagine, all you have to do is give God a chance - you won't be disappointed!!!
