CS: Do you like performing with a group better than performing solo? What made you decide to go solo?

Bryan: No.... I wanted more control over music and financial decisions

CS: What is the main focus in your ministry? Teens? The lost? The hurting? Why did you decide up on this as a focus?

B: My main focus is on my relationship to God personally.... and I play to whoever comes to the concerts. I make no judgments based on someone else's circumstances specifically.

CS: What kind of relationship do you maintain with your audiences? Do you fellowship with them? Or do you remain distant as the performer?

B: I talk with everyone who wants too usually after concerts. I have an internet fellowship of fans of my music. and I answer letters and or questions. I am not merely a performer but I'm also not a pastor. Fellowship suggests to me a more intimate surrounding and a smaller group than an audience can accommodate

I also like the less "elevated" position of sharing personal experiences with like minds.. I look to my men's group and my church bible study and my friends and family for that kind of fellowship... where I can confess my faults freely without fear of stumbling someone.

CS: Do you make it a goal to use your music to minister to people? Or do you just write for the sake of writing and performing?

B: I write music and sing as a way of working out my own salvation in fear and trembling... I have seen that it does minister to others just as anyone's confession of faults will.

CS: What is the message you are trying to get across with your music?

B: there is unconditional love for me from Jesus. I feel distant from him most of the time... but the truth isn't always something you can feel.

CS: Do you write your own music?

B: Yes but I collaborate as well. two heads are better than one.

CS: Where do you get ideas for your music?

B: listening to other music

CS: How would you describe your music style?

B: blue eyed soul searching

CS: Do you ever get criticized for your lyrics?

B: No not really

CS: Who, or what, are your biggest musical influences?

B: blues and soul singers mostly... and funky bands, and lyricists

CS: Who are some of the groups you have performed with and what did you think of them?

B: Phil Keaggy, Amy Grant, Bob Carlisle, Rebecca st James... pretty much most of pop Christian music from the last twenty years....all are sincerely following Jesus as best as they know how.

CS: Are you involved in any other ministries?

B: Celebrate Recovery at Saddleback Community Church & Overcomers Outreach

CS: What is your musical background? Did you take lessons to gain the musical skills you have now?

B: I play mostly by ear but I have had minimal lessons on piano and guitar and I have had some vocal training to maintain strength

CS: Do you have an accountability partner or prayer partner to keep you encouraged and uplifted?

B: I have a whole group. and specific friends who know everything about my life.

CS: Do you find it strange to hear yourself singing on the radio or to see yourself in a video?

B: I'm used to it... but I don't watch my videos more than once.... it just lowers my self esteem...( I look better in my own mind 8) )

CS: What is the latest news? Any new CD's to be released soon?

B: I have a new project to be released in late February of 2001 called JOYRIDE! I'll be on tour in Jan with Winter Jam artists Audio Adreneline and Newsong...I'll also be on the "Left Behind" tour dates with Bob Carlisle and Shine. This summer I'll be on the "Legends Tour" at several festivals with members of the old bands, Sweet Comfort Band, Daniel Amos, 77's. Phil Keaggy, Randy Stonehill & more.

CS: Do you have any advice to give to the youth of our world?

B: I'm short on advise these days.... but I know there is life after mistakes!!!! Know Jesus! he's all you can take with you at the end of your life so Know him now.
