CS: How did your group form? Did you start out together or did you pick up players along the way?

CC: Man, Bayview kinda has a bit of history as far as how this formation came about. Chris, Bobby, and myself played together in another band called She Said for a couple years. She Said broke up and I joined a band called Theophilus with Dave. Theophilus also ended up breaking up, and eventually the four of us decided to put our talents to create Bayview. This is kind of Bayview version two. Bobby and I tried to do Bayview with a guy we knew named Tom on the drums, and it didn't work out.

CS: What is the funniest thing you have seen while touring?

CC: We haven't really toured a lot, but one of the funniest things about touring is just how you can get along with other bands and some of the pranks or jokes you might play on them once you get to know them well.

CS: Who, aside from Jesus, is or has been the biggest influence in your life?

CC: My parents.

CS: When do you find time for personal worship?

CC: I usually make time in the afternoon or late morning for my personal Bible study and prayer time, but sometimes I have to adjust that based upon my schedule since it is never very solid.

CS: Does the group come together for prayer at times other than concerts and ministry opportunities?

CC: Well, we definitely do pray before shows and practices, but part of what we are is a group of brothers who want to keep each other accountable. Our relationships go beyond the band. I've always said that we are Christians firsts, friends second, and musicians third.

CS: What is the target audience for your group?

CC: Whoever will listen, though I think that teenagers and college kids are the ones most likely to appreciate our music.

CS: Where do you see the band in five years? Ten? The future?

CC: As cliché as it sounds, it depends on where the Lord leads us. We all have so many aspirations and desires to serve in ministry. Right now though I think we are all pretty excited about the band and see it as something that will be around for a while.

CS: If you could meet any one person, past, present or future, who would you meet? Why would you choose that person? What would you ask them?

CC: I've always wanted to meet Josh Kemble, the singer of Dogwood, which is my favorite band of all time.

CS: What is the biggest thing God has done during one of your concerts?

CC: I think the biggest thing that God has used our music for is building relationships with people. Throughout the time I've spent playing music, in Bayview and other bands, I have met a lot of people and built relationships. Some have been relationships in which I can mentor to teens and others have been those where I meet people who I can relate to and learn from spiritually. Music brings people together,

CS: Do you write your own music? Where do you get ideas for it?

CC: Yeah, we do. We may pull an occasional cover song for kicks though. I think our songs just come from life. I do a majority of the lyrics and I tend to write about whatever battles or victories I've seen or about whatever life experiences I might be going through be it relationship issues, spiritual issues, or societal issues. Sometimes we also try to take the perspective of biblical characters and write from their point of view.

CS: How would you describe your music style?

CC: I think it’s pretty diverse. We have some punk sound, some hard sound, and some emo sound. We just write songs without any pre-determined style or pattern. All of us have some pretty different tastes in music so that adds to the diversity in the writing.

CS: What advice can you to give to the youth of our world?

CC: Ha... there's so much. I guess I would just advise teens to take the Bible serious and seek to understand it for yourself.
