Across the Sky
By: Kelvin Oliver
CS: How long have you been a Christian?
JU:Ben and I have been Christians for the majority of our lives. We were both very blessed to have awesome christian parents like we do. Our stories are pretty similar, on how we came to truly know Jesus as our personal savior.
CS: Can you share a short testimony with our readers?
JU: It wasn't untill high school when felt the Lord tugging on my heart.
I went through some trials in highschool that really had me questioning who I am in Christ. My Grandfather who was also the pastor of my church came to me and asked me some tough questions about my life, and thats when it happend. I had to make a change and stop living for myself and for what I wanted. Since then the Lord as revealed himself to me in so many different ways, drawing me closer to Himself.
CS: What is the main focus in your ministry? Teens? The lost? The hurting? Why did you decide up on this as a focus?
JU: The meaning of our name explains it all. ACROSS THE SKY. In Matthew 24:29-31 The Lord talks about His return and how He will gather his angels from one end of the sky to the other. Ben and I dont want the focus to be on us at all.
We feel that the Lord wants us to point peoples attention Heavenward.
I am amazed every day by God creation here, and the most amazing to me is the sky. His glory is shown all across the sky. We want to encourage people to focus on who Christ is and that He is comeing back very soon.
CS: Where do you see yourself in five years? Ten? The future?
JU: Well I know that in five years that we will be right where the Lord wants us to be. I think that it would be great to be in front of a lot more people that we can encourage and be used by God more, but mainly we just want to be in His will and wherever that takes us we are ready to go.
CS: Do you ever worry about getting caught up in the world of show biz? That success will change you?
JU: At the start of this ministry I thought I had conquered that battle of getting caught up in the buisness part, but I was wrong. It is a very hard battle to fight, being in the music industry. Sometimes it is hard to remember that it is Christ who gave us these gifts and talents, not US. We have to continually be in Gods word and humbling ourselves daily to stay on the right track.
CS: What kind of relationship do you maintain with your audiences? Do you fellowship with them? Or do you remain distant as the performer?
JU: Ben and I are all about the Hang time. We want to be the same on stage as we are off. We love meeting new people and hearing what The Lord is doing in their live. It actually encourages us a lot to meet and talk to people in different walks of life and hear their stories. I think it is just as important to hang with people and answer emails from them as it is to get on the stage every night. We are greatful for the audience we have already. We know that they are praying for us.
CS: If you could meet any one person, past, present or future, who would you meet? Why would you choose that person? What would you ask them?
JU: I Would love to meet a author named Andrew Murray. He is the writer of many books. "Humility, Obedience..." He died over a hundred years ago and his books have so much meat in them still. The Lord has used his books to help bring me to the next level in my walk with Christ. They are so good. I would probably ask him, What are some of the hardest struggles in your day and age? and then I would tell him about our struggles.
CS: If you could ask Jesus any one question, what would you ask and why?
JU: I would ask Him WHY ME? Why, out of all of tthe people in this world did you Choose me to be one of Your beloved children? After I saw the Passion of Christ, That was the first thing that came to mind. He did it all for me to live. AWESOME!!!!!
CS: What is the most inspirational piece of scripture that you have found that applies to your life?
JU: Jeremiah 10:23 I know oh Lord that a mans life is not his own. It is not for man to direct his steps." That scripture encourages me daily. Just to know that it is not my job to direct my own steps. Chirst wants to do it. I just need to Learn how to let HIM.
